As you all may know from the About page, my name is Jayda and I am the person behind Shaping Your Future, both the website and the blog. Though you all may have read the About page paragraph and the article on My College & Career Decision Making Journey ,
I still don't believe I properly introduced myself!
For future reference, I want this blog to be very interview-based, especially after the success of my last one with the Young CEO 👑. But before I conduct interviews with other people, I need to familiarize you guys with the type of person I am!
So I took to my Instagram story @_jaydamay and asked my followers to send me some questions regarding my education or future career path, just to keep things appropriate for the blog. Without further ado, here is the Q&A:

1. Do you plan on giving up completely on music?
This is actually a very good question! I still write songs from time to time and we all know that music will forever hold a special place in my heart. I'm still undecided on whether or not I want to leave it alone, but I'm leaning more towards making it a hobby or side hustle. I'm not sure I could take music seriously as a career, but I would love to continue pursuing it in some aspect. I may already have a career path in mind, but I'm still keeping my options open!
2. What do you plan to major in?
I plan to major in journalism, and I will likely infuse it with public relations. I am a linguistic learner and writing has always been a strong suit for me. Studying public relations will also help me in securing a career, since every business needs a PR coordinator. Plus, I think my creative mind would be an asset to businesses especially in marketing and advertising.
3. If you weren't pursuing [whatever major you're pursuing] what would you choose?
If I weren't pursuing a career in writing or journalism, I honestly would probably still be stuck. Journalism was like my saving grace when it came to deciding on a career. I know it's important to have a backup plan, but it took me so long to even get to the point of having an idea of my future career. My last resort would probably be teaching, which isn't a bad job, but it's not something I'm passionate about either.
4. Do you want your own business?
The idea of owning my own business sounds amazing! Beyond amazing! But starting a business is a huge risk, and I'm not a big risk-taker. There are so many factors to consider, like financial and capital constraints. I also have yet to come up with a million-dollar idea for a business, let alone a plan to execute it. If I were to come up with a business, though, it would likely be something dealing with haircare, since Black haircare is a $2.5 billion dollar industry!
5. What college has your most attention right now?
The college I'm mostly drawn to is the Louisiana State University aka LSU. It is the top school in the state for the major I'm pursuing and has alumni working all over the news as evidence of it! Not to mention that I'm very familiar with its campus, and comfortability is very important to me.
6. What career do you plan on pursuing in the future?
Now this, I haven't completely decided on just yet. I know that I want to study journalism and public relations, but I'm not exactly sure what career is going to come of it. One of my top options is Public Relations Coordinator/Specialist, since it is most directly related to my major. Like I said, I'm still keeping my options open and once I actually start college, I will become more familiar with the types of jobs that my major is associated with, and hopefully I'll have an even clearer idea by then.
